IDP Intrusion Detection& Prevention System是一種入侵偵測防禦系統。

IDP兼具IDS(Intrusion Detection System，入侵偵測系統）以及IPS(Intrusion Prevention System，入侵防禦系統）等兩大功能.而要讓IDP扮演好IPS的角色，IDP必須要能同時具備：

串連模式（in-line mode)

即時偵測（real-time detection)
