主要藥理活性：
本品用於治療支氣管哮喘、潰瘍性結腸炎、局部性迴腸炎、風濕類疾患、以及因藥物、其它物質或疾患引起脂加氧酶水平增高的適應症。具有抗炎、鎮痛、抗風濕、抗氧化活性、促進消化作用4、免疫調節等作用。
注意事項
1.鉤果草不應該由胃或十二指腸潰瘍的人使用。
2.與膽結石的人在使用前應諮詢鉤果草醫生。
糖尿病患者或正在服用藥物，影響了他們的血糖，應該保健醫生監督下服用鉤果草。在一項研究中發現，鉤果草提取物導致正在禁食動物血糖降低正常和糖尿。
3.鉤果草不宜使用的人群：孕婦，因為它被認為是引起子宮收縮。
副作用：
鉤果草已經知道，引起過敏反應。
一些研究報告胃部不適，飽脹感，耳鳴（耳鳴）和頭痛。在動物實驗中，有一個血壓的
化，心律，血糖和小的風險的一項研究發現，它增強了GAB大腦中的作用，而且抑制
中樞神經系統。還不清楚是否這些影響也可能發生人類身上。

Main function：
1、5-Lipoxygenase biosynthesis inhibition activity: In in vitrostudies, and two carbon dioxide extracts totally inhibited 5-lipoxygenasebiosynthesis at a concentration of 51.8mg/L, although a convention extract didnot show any inhibition.
2、Analgesic properties: Administration of 20mg/kg harpagoside has beenreported to produce an analgesic effect similar to that of phenylbutazone at50mg/kg. Writhings and stretchings induced in rats by 1.2% acetic acid wassignificantly reduced after administration of an aqueous devil's claw extract(2.2% harpagoside).6An aqueous Harpagphytum root extract given byintraperitoneal administration (200mg/kg) produced 53% protection.3
3、Antimicrobial properties: A crude preparation of H. procumbensdemonstrated antiplasmodial activity.25
4、Antioxidant properties: Antioxidant effects similar to selegiline-inducedresponses were found in rats treated with a 53% ethanolic Harpagophytum dryextract.22Some animal experiments have reported antioxidant activity of H. procumbens22,23,although these results have not been confirmed by others5,39.
