1986年09月至1990年07月,就讀於華中師範大學化學系,獲理學學士學位。
1995年09月至1998年07月,就讀於清華大學化學系,獲理學碩士學位。
2000年09月至2003年09月,就讀於香港中文大學化學系,獲理學博士學位。
2003年至2006年,在香港中文大學物理系作博士後研究人員。
2005年10月,籌建許昌學院表面微納米材料研究所並任所長。
2010年11月,任許昌學院副院長。
河南省許昌市第七屆政協副主席。
研究方向

曾主持國家自然科學基金項目“以低能氫離子束為引發劑製備表面功能性可控的交聯聚合物薄膜的研究”(基金號:20574058,第一主持人,已完成)2008年,鄭直團隊申報的課題《硫族化合物-共軛聚合物雜化網狀薄膜材料的原位製備、改性及光電轉換性能研究》再次獲得國家自然科學基金為資助。2008年,依託於鄭直團隊的套用化學學科被批准為第七批河南省重點學科。鄭直團隊參與的項目《Single-crystalline chitosan nanostructures: Preparation,properties and applications in drug delivery,biomineralization and biomineral tectonics》獲得香港資助局的支持。獲得河南省自然科學基金項目“納米單晶碘化物薄膜材料的原位生長及表征”(基金號:611021900,第一主持人,已結項)。參與完成首屆河南省高校“新世紀優秀人才支持計畫”;獲得2008年河南省高校科技創新人才支持計畫資助(主持人);兩次獲得河南省自然科學優秀學術論文一等獎;曾參加第一屆亞洲摩擦學大會並作會議報告;三次參加香港化學年會,並在2002年的年會上代表中文大學博士研究生作大會報告;參與完成3項香港科學基金項目(Grant No. CUHK4106/98P ;Grant No. 4315/98E;CUHK4106/98P;4440/99E);申請國家發明專利4項。
主要理論
鄭直提出了基於離子轟擊、動量傳遞、以及相互作用截面等不為合成化學家所熟悉的概念,在國際上首次提出了“Chemistry with a tiny and light hammer”的新的化學反應機制來設計和實現化學反應(高分子交聯聚合反應);通過對離子劑量和轟擊能量的精確控制,在低能量氫離子(質子)的作用下,成功實現了可控制的交聯聚合反應和納米級超薄聚合物薄膜的製備。採用X-光光電子能譜 (XPS),原子力顯微鏡(AFM),以及二次離子質譜(SIMS)等表征方法確證了這種在高分子科學領域全新的表面交聯聚合反應技術。此方法無須用到溶劑或任何添加劑,同時可有效節省能量,不損傷聚合物表面的原有結構,對於開發新型納米薄膜材料、生物適應性材料以及微電子器件等具有非常重要的研究意義。開發出了一條簡單易行的 元素直接反應途徑來原位製備各種無機氧化物、碘化物和硫化物半導體薄膜材料。這種方法反應快捷,操作方便,還可以避免其它濕法化學反應製備所造成的產品不純的現象。同時不需要用到毒性較大的溶劑及任何表面活性劑,屬於環境友好型反應,便於工業化生產和技術推廣。
現今研究
目前,他主要從事表面材料科學的研究工作,主要研究方向為微納米材料的設計、開發及套用。他的研究工作涉及材料化學、無機化學、高分子化學、表面化學、摩擦化學、材料物理等多學科的交叉;他主要致力於能源材料特殊微納米結構與性能之間的關係及器件組裝等方面的研究,最終目的是旨在材料合成、組裝及材料改性兩個層面上解決新能源材料研製過程中的關鍵性問題,在節能的基礎上進一步提高新能源材料的利用效率。堅持不懈的潛心研究已經取得了階段性成果,近年來共發表SCI源期刊論文40 余篇,分別發表在《 J.Am. Chem. Soc.》、《 Chem. Commun.》、《 Chem. Eur. J.》、《 J. Mater. Chem.》、《 J. Phys. Chem. C 》、《 Cryst. Growth Des.》、《 Chem. Mater.》《 Appl. Phys. Lett.》等國際著名化學、材料和物理類雜誌上,其中影響因子大於5.0的有7篇,影響因子大於4.0的有22篇,總的引用次數近200次,其中他引160多次;研究論文《新型硼酸酯潤滑油添加劑的合成、水解穩定性及摩擦學特性研究》和《由超高熱質子碰撞引發的表面吸附有機小分子的交聯反應及超薄聚合物薄膜的形成》曾兩次(第七和第九屆)獲得河南省自然科學優秀學術論文一等獎;《原位生長由完美六角形單晶組成的碘化鉛薄膜》等7篇研究論文獲得河南省教育廳優秀科技論文一等獎;曾參加第一屆亞洲摩擦學大會並作會議報告;三次參加香港化學年會,並在2002年的年會上代表香港中文大學博士研究生作大會報告。

2.鄭直,原名王宗周。研究員。河南滎陽人。北京大學肄業。1951年赴蘇聯學習。1956年獲莫斯科地質勘探學院地質礦物學副博士學位。歷任地質礦產部礦床地質研究所研究室主任、副所長,中國海洋學會、中國湖沼學會理事。對粘土、磷礦和鉀鹽礦產地質進行了研究,並取得成果。合撰有《中國高嶺土礦床》、《中國磷礦形成分布的規律圾今後需要研究的問題》、《中國南方風化殼礦床的地質特徵》等論文。
