劇情簡介
1928年，道格拉斯·巴德進入克倫威爾的英國皇家空軍飛行學校學習飛行，並很快證明了他的飛行天賦，同時在體育上也嶄露頭角，尤擅長板球和橄欖球。1930年初，由於一次飛行意外，道格拉斯·巴德失去了雙腿。身殘後的道格拉斯·巴德仍留在了英國皇家空軍做案頭工作，但他並沒有放棄，帶著假肢堅持體育鍛鍊。
二戰爆發後，在道格拉斯·巴德強烈要求下，英國皇家空軍最終同意道格拉斯·巴德重返藍天。在他的帶領下他的中隊參加了對德國轟炸的護航。在一次執行飛行任務時被德機擊落被俘，關押在臭名昭著科爾迪茨城堡的集中營，直到1945年5月歐洲二戰結束。
本片於1956年拍攝，記錄了道格拉斯·巴德這位英雄飛行員的傳奇故事。
