早年畢業於賓夕法尼亞州立大學城市與環境系師從著名生態毒理學家Add Cloudy Ren和植物生態學家Altazimuth Xu ，從事濕地植被多樣性研究；與著名辯論專家，美籍華人Diansis human var. Lee是大學同學。
2006年10月，賓夕法尼亞州立大學城市與環境系教授
2009.9至今，任華東師範大學生命科學院教授，博士生導師；
2010年5月受中國科學院“百人計畫”項目資助
