西南交通大學自動控制工學學士(1984),計算機套用工學碩士(1990),交通信息工程及控制(移動通信方向)工學博士(1999)。上海鐵道學院(後併入同濟大學)和西南交通大學助教、講師、副教授、教授(1984--)。德國柏林工業大學鐵路技術研究所高級訪問學者(1998-1999)。美國得州大學達拉斯分校先進通信系統研究中心訪問研究員(2000-2001)。
目前任通信工程系主任,移動通信省重點實驗室副主任,信息編碼與傳輸省重點實驗室副主任,IEEE Vehicular Technolgy Society,Chengdu Chapter主席,四川省通信學會無線通信專委會副主任。IEEE Senior Member, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology編委(Editor),《電子與信息學報》與《電子科學學刊(英文版)》編委。
