當今我國正逐步由“製造大國”走向“製造強國”，熟悉各國技術特點、能與國際合作方通暢交流的數控技術套用型人才嚴重短缺，培養具有國際意識的高素質數控套用技術人才，是國家走向“製造強國”的緊迫任務之一。目前，國內出版了大量數控技術套用方面的英文書籍，有些是國內專業人員自主編著的專業英語教材，有些是引進的影印原版書籍，對促進我國人才培養都發揮了巨大作用，但對於專業的數控編程人員和學習數控技術的學生，缺少一本全面系統介紹專業英文知識、技術術語和表達習慣的英文書籍。
我們精心編寫的這本《數控技術專業英語》，針對數控編程人員和學習數控技術的學生所必需的知識和技能結構，結合國內學生的特點，系統全面地介紹了機械製造技術、數控技術等方面的英文基礎知識、專業術語和表達習慣，以典型工具機及其操作、編程為載體，介紹在技術表達、操作等方面的特點，以期培養學生熟悉英文技術文獻、掌握英文技術資料的能力，能夠正確操作國外先進工具機，實現無障礙溝通。
全書分Fundamental of Machine Manufacturing，Fundamental of CNC Manufacturing，The CNC Lathe，The CNC Machining Centers四部分，共26單元，每單元包括課文、生詞及專業辭彙解析、長難句解析、課後練習題等內容。本書配有精彩課件、習題答案等教學資源，以及製造管理、品質管理等知識內容，以方便教學、提高教學質量。
本書由蘭州高等工業專科學校高成秀副教授任主編，蘭州理工大學楊建軍老師、蘭州高等工業專科學校林小軍老師參編，其中PartⅠ由楊建軍編寫，PartⅡ、Part Ⅲ由高成秀編寫，PartⅣ由林小軍編寫，全書由高成秀副教授統稿、審定。多位老師和朋友對本書的編寫提出了許多寶貴的修改意見與建議，再次一併表示最衷心的感謝。
