1998年9月—2001年7月: 中國科學院蘭州地質所碩士
2002年1月—2006年5月: 邁阿密大學、密西根大學地質系(Miami University) 博士
2006年6月—2007年8月: 賓州州立大學(The Pennsylvania State University)地球科學系從事博士後研究
2007年8月—2009年8月: 橡樹林國家實驗室(Oak Ridge National Laboratory)生物學部從事博士後研究。

在博士和博士後期間系統的用分子生物學,礦物學,地球化學手段研究了地質微生物,2003和2004獲得美國粘土學會學生研究資助獎,2003、2004和2005年獲得美國地質學會、粘土學會,學生會議資助獎,2005年獲得美國邁阿密大學研究生成就獎,已發表10篇SCI論文,其中第一作者4篇。代表論著
