荒漠化是目前世界範圍內主要環境問題之一,其後果就是大量可耕地的喪失和生態環境的退化,因此,在乾旱與半乾旱地區如何防治荒漠化、建立穩定的生態系統是目前國內外科學研究的熱點問題。中、德、以色列的科學家為此開展了大量的研究工作,於2004年9月在北京召開了第一屆中德"乾旱半乾旱地區生態系統恢復與穩定性"研討會。本論文集系統地介紹了中國、德國和以色列乾旱與半乾旱地區沙漠化防治和生態系統恢復、保護的基本情況和先進方法、措施。旨在為世界各國的國土資源部門、災害控制部門、各地方單位的工程技術人員以及相關院校的師生提供參考。
