The whole article has many dashes. The dash in paragraph 19 is the last dash of the article. The sentence “I was showing off. I was bragging and I wasn’t the slightest bit shy or self-restrained” explain what the author think she don’t intend to defend herself. However, because of some reason, she has to exult. Then she uses three adjectives “golden, glowing, glorious” to describe the reason.
Paragraph 20 paragraph 21, and paragraph 22 enumerate three examples for exulting. In paragraph 20, “he fries me an egg” means fries an egg for me”. In paragraph 21, there is a sentence which is said by author’s mother, it uses three interrogative sentences to emphases the boy is so gorgeous, and her mother is exulting for that. These three paragraphs use three tenses “present tense”, “past tense”, and “subjunctive”. The last sentence in the paragraph 22 which said by the mother of four in the author’s imagine “call me “senator”” represents her showing off. Her aim of saying this is telling others, she has been a senator.
