沃爾沃汽車和瑞典北極星公司自1996年起便在賽車運動領域展開合作，Polestar作為沃爾沃（VOLVO）御用改裝廠。2015年7月16日，被沃爾沃收購PolestarPerformanceAB100%股份。

Polestar的使命是建立沃爾沃在世界賽車運動領域的王者地位，並充分發揮沃爾沃汽車與生俱來的強勁性能和出色靈敏性。
不論是在賽事中折桂、還是開發高性能汽車，目標始終如一：不惜一切，追求卓越。

2015年7月16日，哥德堡，沃爾沃汽車日前宣布收購瑞典高性能改裝車製造商北極星（PolestarPerformanceAB）全部股權。現有北極星賽車隊不包含在收購範圍之內，仍將由克里斯蒂安·達爾（ChristianDahl）負責管理並更名為PolestarCyanRacing。

發展歷史

2009年初次引入對沃爾沃公路汽車的Polestar性能最佳化時，Polestar被指定為其官方性能合作夥伴。2010年，Polestar完成了VolvoC30Polestar概念車，從此步入新的階段，也為2013年Polestar與沃爾沃合作生產的第一輛汽車埋下伏筆：VolvoS60和V60Polestar。

2015年完成對polestar的收購後，沃爾沃汽車將百分百擁有北極星公司的所有高性能車業務，包括高性能車相關汽車軟體和汽車後市場改裝車硬體等優質業務，以及北極星商標。同時，“北極星”（Polestar）也將用來命名沃爾沃旗下高性能運動版本車型。全資收購後，Polestar勢必將會推出更多車型，眼下，Polestar正在開發新一代XC90的高性能版本。

沃爾沃旗下的高性能車部門Polestar已經推出了S60與V60的高性能車型，動力方面採用了沃爾沃的6缸3.0T渦輪增壓發動機。對此，Polestar性能車部門執行長NielsMoeller表示：“5年內將會推出搭載插電式混動車型的性能版本。”此外，根據沃爾沃日前公布的全新電氣化戰略，沃爾沃未來將廣泛普及插電式混動技術並套用到全系產品中。

Volvo S60 S2000

Volvo C30 Polestar Concept

為了慶祝2009年瑞典房車錦標賽冠軍從賽道上C30的表現，於是打造了沃爾沃C30北極星。這也是是北極星的概念第一次民用車,這款車採用渦輪增壓五缸發動機的451hp，是四輪驅動和大量的技術組件同其競賽車類似，如懸掛、剎車等。
