是林肯公園的首張錄音室專輯，由時代華納旗下的華納唱片公司出版，這是林肯公園在2000年出的第一張專輯，一出就大受歡迎，震動了世界搖滾樂界，到2001年為止就賣出了一千五百萬張，此專輯由Don Gilmore(Pearl Jam、Lit、Eve6)擔綱製作，多首熱門單曲的專輯成為了2001年美國和紐西蘭最暢銷的唱片。值得注意的是，他們的這張專輯中的歌曲歌詞都相當乾淨，沒有任何髒話出現，這與其他的一些新金屬樂隊的歌曲形成了鮮明的對比。此專輯最受歡迎單曲分別有“One Step Closer”、“Points of Authority”及“Crawling”、“Runaway”等勁曲。 主唱在嗓音上有著相當精彩的詮釋，林肯公園深具爆發力的“說”、“唱”、“和聲”，加上多重音樂代表的包裝及出道之初所抱持的搖滾衝勁，皆印證在此張優質專輯中。 而除了音樂方面，專輯當中長著翅膀的士兵塗鴉封面則是由主音MC麥可和DJ喬一起共同製作繪圖。 專輯也獲得2001年全球銷售第二名，而在2002年推出了全球慶功紀念盤（該特別版專輯的封面在原來的“Hybrid Theory”下方多了一行白色的“Special Edition”）。 該專輯銷售量在2007年11月的統計下，全球已熱賣2,000萬張。
