從小被父母遺棄在Jeremy大街，所以得名Jeremy（《How is your father?》）；總是被女校長Miss Courtney以各種理由打擊，因為她的初衷是找一位女老師任教（《the first lesson》）;總是因為學生們陷入各種的麻煩的事件，每次學生闖禍，背負責任的都是他（《Guilty or not guilty》）......

Sid/Sidney 悉德/悉尼
學校里打掃衛生的老工人，聽力很不好，經常因為聽不見被人講話而鬧出事故（《All Through the Night》）有時候也可以當司機(《Don't forget the Driver》)或者學校典禮主持人（《After Three》）。
Gladys
休息室負責茶點的老奶奶，和藹，鬼點子多。她和Sid負責了全校緋聞八卦的傳播。

來自義大利的Giovanni高大挺拔，對Girls由其熱衷。和來自希臘的Maximillian Papandrious是好朋友，也可以說是狐朋狗友，只要有他們，就有鬼點子和搞笑的事情發生。但是他相當的情緒化，每次到了分別或者傷感的時候，他都會一把鼻涕一把淚的。

Max
Maximillian Papandrious/Max 麥克斯
Giovanni的死黨，希臘人。只有為了贏得法國美女Danielle的青睞的時候會和Giovanni爭執不休。他和Giovanni住在同一間公寓（《A Hard Day's Night》）。喜歡看成人小說。說所有元音開頭的單詞都會加上H的音，如：OK=HOK。

AnnaAnna Schmidt/Anna 安娜
東德人，嚴肅，正經，但是熱情商量。從來不做不合規矩的事，有一些死板，但是在情況必要之下還是會和同學們同流合污。（《The Cheating Game》）。
口音：W，V不分。
最經常做的事情：在別人在乾不正經的事情/或者想乾不正經的時候肘擊他們（一般是針對Max）。
Taro Nagazumi/Taro 塔羅
TARO和藹搞笑的日本老先生。經常掛著日本製造的照相機在身上。堅信日本什麼都是最好的。但是為人善良正值，常常站出來為中國學生Su-lee說話（《I Belong to Glasgow》），但更經常的是和Sulee爭論政治問題.....
口頭禪：一開始的口頭禪是Japano makeso besto everythingno（日本的東西都是最好的）....後來的口頭禪變成了：Japaneseo philosophero saido....（日本哲學家說......但基本都是他自己瞎扯的，例如：Japaneseo philosophero saido， If somebody iso noto hereo, he musto be somewhere elseo!日本哲學家說：如果某個人不在這裡，他一定在別的什麼地方！）
最常做的事情：回答問題之前一定會站起來，鞠躬，說“Aso!”
JamilaJamila Ranjha/Jamila 傑米拉
北印度來的家庭主婦Jamila，最初來的時候一句英文都不會說，一開始必須讓Ali幫她做翻譯才能和Brown交流。是態度比較好的一位，Mr.Brown對她最為耐心，但依舊無法避免Jamila作出讓他哭笑不得的事情來。每次學會一句英文都會相當的興奮。在後半部分也是表現欲望最強的學生，喜歡念詩，但發音讓布朗和考特尼都哭笑不得.....
最常做的事情：打毛線，並且把毛線球弄得一團糟、念詩，並且發音讓人聽不懂。
Ali Nadim/Ali 阿里
ali巴基斯坦人，最先出場的學生，也是最先讓Brown頭痛的傢伙。非常之搞笑。是個穆斯林，所以經常為了宗教問題和錫克教徒Ranjeet發生爭執，是電視劇中永久會打架的一對。說話經常讓人哭笑不得。比如，Mr.Brown叫他用You are造句：
Brown:You are——
Ali:you are asking me a question....
Brown:good!
Ali:....but I don't know the answer!

Season 1, Episode 1: The First Lesson

In the pilot episode, Mr. Jeremy Brown begins teaching an English class to a diverse group of ten foreign adult students in London, hailing from nine different countries. From Europe come two au pairs, the flirtatious and beautiful Danielle (France) and prim and proper Anna (Germany), two young single men, Giovanni (Italy) and Max (Greece) and a laid-back middle-aged bartender, Juan (Spain), who speaks no English at all. From Asia, come a revolutionary-minded secretary from the Chinese Embassy (Su-Li), a Japanese businessman (Taro) as well as three students from the Subcontinent, a devout Sikh (Ranjeet) and an unemployed Pakistani (Ali), who are constantly at each other's threats, and finally a Hindi-speaking housewife (Jamila) who can't speak a word of English. The school principal, Miss Delores Courtney, nearly dismisses Mr. Brown immediately as she had requested a female teacher, but he is allowed to stay on a trial basis.

Jamila has been arrested for shoplifting, but it's not entirely her fault. Because of her poor English, she has made the mistake of taking, what she thought to be, "free" items. After Mr.Brown rescues Jamila from the police station, he learns that she has stolen more than just a few items. Knowing that keeping the stolen goods would be dishonest, he gathers the class and they all set out to return the items where they belong, without getting caught. That'll be a tricky one!

At the beginning of the lesson, Mr.Brown asks the students to speak aloud for one minute on various topics. The class learns that Taro's childhood was very lonely because he never knew his parents. Mr.Brown sympathizes by telling the class the story of how he was left on an orphanage in Jeremy Street when he was a baby 30 years ago and therefore grew up without any parents as well. However Mr.Brown's mother and father are a lot closer to him than he ever imagined.

瑣事悼念
·扮演布朗先生的著名演員Barry Evans在1997年2月11日被發現死於自己公寓的沙發上，享年53歲。死因至今未有定論。驗屍官在其屍體中發現超出正常指標4.5倍的酒精濃度，但是卻並非自殺，現場環境顯示為他殺，頭部明顯有被襲擊過的痕跡，警方隨機逮捕了18歲的少年詹姆斯李德比特，但因為證據不足而釋放。
·Barry Evans與劇中人物Jeremy Brown一樣，是一個一生下來就被拋棄在孤兒院門口的棄嬰。
