職業生涯

■Biography
Jeremy Abbott喜歡上滑凍的契機是在2歲時看了美國奧運金牌獲得者Robin Cousins的表演,他因此開始接觸學習,4歲就參加一系列正式的等級測驗和比賽,在真正專攻男單選手之前,他也曾經是冰舞和雙人滑的選手;
01-02賽季第一次以男單選手的身份參加全美的少年組比賽之後,他每年都有不小的進步,並在05年獲得了全美青少年組的男單冠軍。
當他志得意滿的開始憧憬他第一個成年組賽季(05-06)的時候,顯然沒想到面對他的並不是一馬平川,奪得青少年組冠軍後訓練量的缺乏以及停滯不前的狀態讓他這賽季參加的僅僅兩項比賽成績糟糕,因此他沒能取得參加全美的資格,同時也失去了衝擊奧運陣容的機會;
在蟄伏了將近一年時間後, Abbott開始復甦,低調出征的他,在Finlandia Trophy和Midwestern Sectional都取得了冠軍,而後者同時也正是全美的資格賽, Abbott得以順利進軍他的第一次全美成年組的比賽,在短節目位列第9的情況下,他以當晚排名第三的精彩自由滑表現最終獲得了總成績第四名,這是20年內首次參加全美成年組選手的最好成績,他也因此進入了國家隊參加四大洲和世錦賽的替補陣容,由於Weir的缺席,他搭上了參加4CC的末班車,這次比賽對他來說有特殊意義,這是他的第一場ISU的國際賽事,而舉辦地就是他生活訓練的科羅拉多泉,憑藉短節目的出色發揮和自由滑的平穩表現,他獲得了銅牌,第一次站上了ISU國際比賽的領獎台。
而08年,全美又移師到明尼蘇達的聖保羅進行,Abbott再度位列第四,儘管他是這次賽事中少數幾個在短節目和自由滑中都完成了四周的男選手,但這並不足以讓他的名次比去年有所提升。在全美之後,他又參加了四大洲的比賽並獲得了第五名的不錯成績,從韓國歸來,本以為將就此結束賽季的Abbott,卻由於Lysacek的因傷退出,幸運的得以在最後關頭作為替補參加在瑞典進行的世錦賽。
儘管這次世錦賽的初體驗，他只是名列第11，卻在長短節目中都挑戰四周獲得成功。
令人難忘的08-09賽季始於金秋的中國北京,一年一度的中國杯在這裡舉行,原本這是一站高手雲集的賽事,但計畫不如變化,新的賽季剛開始就風雲突變,首先是Buttle宣布退役,接著高橋因為膝蓋的傷勢而不得不放棄整個賽季,而這時,Abbott在一套乾淨的短節目之後，收穫了個人的最好成績並排名首位,而更令人沒有想到的是,在自由滑中,他再接再厲,以極為流暢的表現為觀眾帶來了探戈宴,再次刷新了他的個人的最好成績,一舉獲得了中國杯的冠軍。之後他獲得俄羅斯站的第四,順利進軍總決賽。
總決賽前良好的狀態延續到比賽中,在一套堪稱賽季最佳的短節目後他暫列第二。第二天的自由滑決戰中,呈現在觀眾們眼前的,是一套扣人心弦,編排飽滿並有著完美技術發揮和內涵呈現的自由滑節目,在一片的驚嘆聲中,Abbott是實至名歸的冠軍,並成為了第一位獲得大獎賽總決賽冠軍的美國選手。
總決賽之後,Abbott的美夢似乎仍在延續,在連續兩年獲得全美第四之後,他終於登上了全美成年組男單的最高領獎台;連續兩個重量級的冠軍頭銜接踵而至,讓人們對接下來的四大洲以及世錦賽上Abbott的表現充滿期待,但誰都未曾料到這位新科冠軍之後的運勢和狀態仿佛過山車般一泄千里,與全美僅僅相隔1周時間的就開賽的四大洲錦標賽,明顯能看出他精神和體能上的雙重疲勞,如果這時還能用無法及時調整狀態做為理由的話,那他在賽季的年終大戲世錦賽的表現則更是讓人大跌眼,在前半賽季百發百中的3A跳躍,竟然在比賽中完全失靈,儘管在其他方面他發揮的相當不錯,甚至在表演上要更優於總決賽,但技術方面的嚴重後腿直接導致了慘澹的分數,而最後的結果,他和去年一樣,依然只位列第11。
不過,這次他並未給自己找藉口或是怨天尤人,"從某種意義上來說,這是可以預料的結果,"他說,"雖然名次和去年一樣,但我反倒坦然了許多,我全身心的投入進節目做到了現階段的全部,我並不認為自己是失敗者,一切遠未就此結束。我會為下賽季,為參加奧運會繼續努力。"
