創作背景
《Dilemma》是在尼力的錄音室專輯《Nellyville》完成之時被收錄進來的。在專輯完成時一位製作人向尼力呈交了一份本曲的框架。而當尼力聽到歌曲的節奏時，便喜歡上了這首歌曲，並決定將歌曲添至《Nellyville》內。隨後他補充了歌曲的其餘部分，完成了整首歌曲的譜寫。而在之後進入錄音室時，尼力改變了自身的想法，他認為歌曲需要一位女歌手的合作參與。他想到了好友凱莉·羅蘭，並一直堅持與其合作的觀點。尼力通過電話聯繫到了她，而之後才有了這首歌曲的誕生 。歌曲取樣了女歌手帕蒂·拉貝爾的歌曲《Love, Need and Want You》 。
