故事梗概
驚聲尖叫3經歷了常人難以想像的痛苦與折磨，威茲堡溫莎大學殺人案的倖存者悉妮·普利斯科特（內維·坎貝爾NeveCampbell飾），如今隱居在山中，通過電話對有著生活危機的女性們進行心理輔導。

驚聲尖叫3《驚聲尖叫3》有些生不逢時，因為影片的孕育環境要比前兩部複雜得多。1999年4月20日，哥倫拜恩中學突發校園槍擊事件，兩名少年攜帶槍枝和炸藥殺害了12名學生和1名教師，這起美國歷史上最血腥的校園屠殺讓民眾開始關注種種暴力事件的成因，而且焦點很快轉向充斥暴力的電子遊戲和電影。為了避免成為眾矢之的，製片方只好放棄威廉姆森大綱中的大部分內容，在減少暴力內容的同時，更多的專注於喜劇元素，故事發生地也由伍茲伯勒改為好萊塢。
為完成一脈相承的劇本，克魯格研讀了前兩部影片的劇本，雖然他通過前兩部影片深入了解了角色和風格，但沒能參與首部的選角讓他對角色個性缺乏準確認知。在劇本初稿中，克魯格將女主人公西德妮塑造成《終結者2》中莎拉式的彪悍女性，導演韋斯·克雷文後來及時糾正了角色，使其更接近於之前的定位。本片劇本同《驚聲尖叫2》一樣一波三折，很多場景直到拍攝之日才完全敲定，沒能出現在編劇名單中的克雷文發揮了重要作用。

被稱為90年代恐怖片之最的系列片《驚聲尖叫》在新千年伊始又推出了第三部，其高額的票房為美國影市帶來了一片暖融融的春意。儘管片中的恐怖、血腥、懸疑令大多數觀者毛骨悚然、膽戰心驚，但它依然成為美國人的最愛。那么，於今年2月4日在全美上映的《驚3》到底使出什麼樣的招數令自己立於不敗之地？《驚3》果真會有如此大的魔力讓人爭先恐後步入影院？
初春映季歷來是美國影市的慢熱季節，然而這一定則卻被由初春上映的《驚聲尖叫3》所打破。2月4日，該片在全美3467家影院隆重登場，這與3年前《驚聲尖叫1》在1100家影院悄無聲息地登場形成強烈反差。影片一經上映便以 3520萬的不俗收益創下2-4月影季周末首映票房的新高，這一驕人成績令熱極一時的《驚2》亦只能望其項背。
《驚1》、《驚2》走的是“反恐怖片的恐怖片”模式，這一非慣常模式令那些看厭了充斥“金故事架構精華的基礎上，又不斷推陳出新，被稱為“90年代後期優秀恐怖片 ”。如今，連續兩周蟬聯票房冠軍的《驚3》，又會有何亮點值得大書一筆呢？
幽默有餘恐怖不足發性感女郎被恐怖殺手追得樓上樓下亂竄卻不知奪門逃出”等俗套噱頭的恐怖片迷們為之振奮。該系列的前兩集在汲取《沉默的羔羊》《萬聖節幽靈》《精神病患者》等一系列經典恐怖片對白及《驚3》中大導演韋斯-克萊文三度出山，其頗有觀眾緣的三員愛將內芙-坎貝爾、科特尼-考克斯、大衛-阿奎德也風風火火地殺將回來。而締造“驚聲尖叫”傳奇的始作俑者、因其擔任編劇的《我知道你去年夏天干了什麼》《老師不是人》等片引發“青春恐怖片大戰”而飽受非議的凱文-威廉士，此次則退居幕後擔任製片一職，影片劇本的操刀權最終落在了年僅27歲的青年編劇艾仁-克魯格手上。
克魯格編劇的第一部作品是1998年的恐怖電視劇《屋中殺手》，去年一部小投入的心理懸疑片《無懈可擊》使其廣獲讚譽，今年他擔任編劇的另兩部懸疑片《馴鹿者遊戲》、《德州復仇者》將緊隨《驚3》之後推出。從各方面權衡，克魯格都稱得上是一個頗具實力的新生代恐怖片劇作家，他在《無懈可擊》中對故事高潮的處理為影界專家所稱道。在《驚3》中，克魯格依舊採用威廉士那套“恐怖＋血腥＋幽默”的模式，神秘感及懸念依舊保持到終場，兇手的原形亦到此刻才得以顯露。
和那些同樣穿黑袍、戴骷髏面具殺手的俗套恐怖片不同，《驚1》《驚2》中適時出現的冷幽默在調節氣氛的同時又加重了影片的思想內涵，《驚1》中曾有骷髏殺手在行兇時還念念有詞“像極了恐怖電影”等令人發笑又深思的場景。克魯格在《驚3》中對冷幽默的處理則更顯獨到，並將此傳統進行了儘可能多的發揚，這也使得《驚3》成為該系列中最引人發笑的一部。相對而言，《驚3》在恐怖程度上遠不及前兩部。此外，《驚3》最大的敗筆是影片的結局，兇手真實身份的顯露過於牽強，這一結局讓人心生的遺憾甚至比《驚2》有過之而無不及。案情升級難逃俗套
3年前《驚1》推出之時韋斯-克萊文便將影片的市場鎖定18-25歲年齡層的青少年觀眾，《驚1》的故事發生地伍茲小鎮的一所高中，當時影片女主人公西德尼(內芙-坎貝爾飾)為該中學的一名學生，在母親遇害一周年之際，一骷髏殺手頻頻向西德尼行兇。電視台女主持蓋爾(科特尼-考克斯飾)與小鎮警官杜威亦在不知不覺中捲入此案。最終的真相是西德尼的男友比利一手策劃了這一切，其行兇動機是西德尼母親與比利父親關係曖昧引起其家庭長期不和，並令他心理飽受壓抑。
《驚2》中西德尼已成長為溫瑟大學戲劇系學生，蓋爾則因其以伍茲高中兇殺案為藍本寫成的紀實性小說被拍成電影《刺殺》而成為娛界紅人，《驚1》中身中數刀的杜威警官則在片中以瘸腿形象登場。就在《刺殺》上映首周，一對黑人學生便慘遭殺戮，骷髏殺手再次現身於大學校園。西德尼也再次成為恐怖殺手的追殺對象，這一次兇殺案的策劃者成了比利母親，其瘋狂動機是西德尼使其愛子命喪黃泉。
《驚3》則將案發地點移至好萊塢片場，此時西德尼已離開大學校園三年。骷髏殺手再次光顧大導演約翰-彌爾頓的新片《刺殺3》(改編自蓋爾取材於溫瑟校園事件的暢銷小說)的攝製片場，在影片劇本及演員名冊神秘失蹤之後，劇組成員以及為影片擔任顧問的杜威開始成為骷髏殺手的獵殺對象。在每一位遇害者的身旁總會留下一張西德尼母親的照片，很顯然殺手還是沖西德尼而來，而此時屢遭不幸的西德尼帶著一顆受驚嚇的心在北加州一個隱蔽的小城裡平靜地工作、生活著，不過這種生活再次被打擾。骷髏殺手另一目標為與西德尼母親有過戀情的導演彌爾頓。一段不為西德尼所知的往事被披露出來，原來其母曾是好萊塢紅極一時的明星。骷髏殺手的真實身份則更加令人費解，不過，這一回行兇者決不會是比利父親……除了坎貝爾、考克斯、奎德在片中再次光彩照人外，新加盟的女星帕克-波希無形中成為影片最大的亮點。波希在片中飾演剛出道的女星詹妮弗-朱莉，其鋒芒甚至蓋過了女主演內芙-坎貝爾。
通觀全片，《驚3》的劇情如同前兩集影片情節的簡單疊加，而創新意識的情節架構被一而再、再而三地套用亦會無形中落入另一種俗套，這也致使該片高票房收益並未引來贊聲連連。對已連續觀看過三集影片的觀眾而言，最恐怖的事情已不在劇情本身，也許在於再次耳聞有關《驚聲尖叫4》的籌拍的某些訊息吧！
