構造地質學、造山帶大地構造學
科研成果
以構造地質學和大地構造相解剖相為基礎,結合地球化學與地球物理等資料,在中國西部中亞造山帶和崑崙造山帶等進行增生造山作用過程及其特徵研究,並根據增生楔-增生楔碰撞造山作用等特徵提出複式增生-碰撞增生造山作用理論。

研究工作
主要從事特提斯和中亞造山帶造山與成礦作用等研究。通過野外解剖和年代學工作,確定了西崑侖造山帶複雜的活動陸緣體系及其屬性、構造樣式與形成時代,厘定了疊加在早古生代拼貼體之上的岩漿弧和增生楔雜岩,探討了早古生代-早中生代向南複合增生造山作用特徵;系統分析了中亞造山帶與弧相關的活動陸緣組分的時空分布特徵,獲得寒武紀古亞洲洋年代學證據,提出西伯利亞南緣在古生代發生多向增生、形成寬闊的增生拼貼構造帶,建立增生楔-增生楔拼貼複雜增生造山作用新的工作模型,並指出複式增生造山作用是顯生宙中亞大陸增生的主要機制之一。
已經發表科研論著200餘篇(部),其中SCI 論文140餘篇,國際刊物客座編輯專輯10部。截至2014年11月,122篇文章Web of Science引用4988次,H指數35;Google scholar citations 8072次,H指數45;入選2014年全球高引用科學家名錄,2010進入全球地球科學家SCI論文高引用;曾在國際學術會議做全會邀請報告,曾任國際會議主席和專題召集人;2007任國家科技部973項目首席科學家,2007獲國家傑出青年科學基金
