肖平,于吉林大學化學系獲得學士(1983年)及碩士(1986年)學位。1989年赴英國留學,1993年獲牛津大學材料學博士學位,同年開始於牛津大學從事博士後研究工作。1996年成為英國布魯內爾大學講師,2000年成為高級講師。2001年加入曼徹斯特大學材料科學中心,成為講師(2001)、高級講師(2003)、副教授(Reader,2005)、教授(2008)。2010年被聘為上海交通大學客座教授。

研究方向

肖平教授的研究領域包括航空發動機用陶瓷塗層的製備、核燃料用陶瓷塗層的研發以及熱障塗層的表征。他創造性地提出使用交流阻抗方法對熱障塗層的退化機理進行研究,以及使用殘餘應力和力學性能測試對熱障塗層服役情況進行表征。

主要貢獻

目前,肖平教授的研究小組與勞斯萊斯(Rolls-Royce)公司以及英國幾所一流大學合作,參與一項總經費為九千萬英鎊的研究項目: Strategic Affordable Manufacturing in the UK with Leading Environmental Technology (SAMULET)。其中,肖平教授的研究重點在於為航空發動機發展下一代熱障塗層。

另外,肖平教授的研究小組使用化學氣相沉積方法製備多層陶瓷塗層,套用於核能工業領域。肖平教授與多所一流研究機構及大學,如法國原子能委員會、劍橋大學、帝國理工大學等合作,參與一項總經費為一千萬歐元的研究項目,對下一代核燃料進行基礎研究。最近,肖平教授與曼徹斯特大學航空機械工程學院以及帝國理工大學的同事們共同獲得英國工程與自然科學基金委員會(EPSRC) 116萬英鎊的經費支持,對套用於核燃料的陶瓷材料進行研究。
