內容簡介：
本教材編寫中把以美國歷史文化發展為線索，展現美國各段歷史進程中的國家概況，既訓練語言技能，也豐富相關知識。涉及了系統的歷史內容,幫助讀者了解美國各段歷史時期的重大事件，系統介紹美國歷史文化發展背景。 本次改版對難度有所調整，並增加教師資源包，以適應不同層次學生的需要。根據閱讀材料的時效性進行增刪。改版中增加“網際網路+”因素， 通過二維碼呈現網路資源，增強文化類教材的特色。

常俊躍，大連外國語大學英語學院院長。主持並完成國家哲學社會科學項目“英語專業基礎階段內容依託式教學改革研究”，主持並正在進行國家社會科學基金項目立項“內容依託教學理論指導下英語專業整體課程體系的改革與實踐研究”。 負責的專業2010年獲國家級特色專業建設點。
