簡介
盧公明（Justus Doolittle，1824年6月23日－1880年6月15日），
生平
1824年6月23日盧公明出生於美國紐約州一個名為Rutland的小鎮
1846年畢業於漢密爾頓學院（HamiltonCollege）
1849年畢業於奧本神學院（AuburnTheologicalSeminary）。
1849年11月26日，盧公明受公理會指派，攜妻由波士頓港口出發，歷時186天，於次年5月31日抵達福州，開始了在華廿餘年的傳教生涯。在福州，盧公明先後創辦了格致書院（福州第五中學的前身）及文山女中（福州第八中學的前身）。
1864年，盧公明返美修養。
1872年，他回到中國上海，於美北長老會差會服侍，不過因為健康原因很快又回國。
1880年6月15日，盧公明病逝於美國紐約州Clinton。
著作
盧公明是一位目光敏銳犀利的文化洞察者，一生著述頗豐。1865年在美國養病期間，盧公明根據其在榕十餘年的見聞，在美國整理出版了著名的《SocialLifeoftheChinese》（中譯《中國人的社會生活》，ISBN9787211058495）一書。原書分上下卷，從政治、經濟、民間信仰、習俗、宗教、教育等多個視角，極為翔實地對清末的福州社會進行觀察與描述。
