醫學博士。現任西安交通大學醫學院教授、博士生導師。西安交通大學醫學院副院長、心血管研究中心執行主任。曾任北京大學生理學教授、博士生導師。北京大學心血管研究所副所長，北京大學糖尿病中心副主任。

1986年西安醫科大學研究生畢業，1994年獲北京醫科大學醫學博士學位。曾在日本北里大學、德國柏林自由大學、美國印地安娜大學、加州大學從事分子生物學研究。2000年起任加州大學研究助理教授。2003年8月回國任北京大學心血管研究所教授、副所長；糖尿病中心副主任，生理學系和病理生理學系博士生導師；教育部分子心血管重點實驗室血管分子生物學及生物工程學研究室主任。2010年入選陝西省百人計畫，受聘至西安交通大學醫學院教授，博士生導師，心血管研究中主任，醫學院副院長。近年來所領導的研究團隊在心血管及代謝性疾病分子機制方面作出的一系列原創性工作發表於《Circulation》、《Hepatology》、《PNAS》等雜誌。目前為國家自然科學基金委重大項目《代謝性核受體與糖脂代謝調控的分子機制》首席科學家；科技部“973”項目（二型糖尿病血管病變分子機制）課題負責人。兼任《Circulation Journal》、《PPAR Research》副主編和《J Diabetes》等編委,並擔任多個國家基金項目的評審專家。

核受體轉錄因子（PPAR, LXR,PXR等）；血管生物學；糖脂代謝的轉錄調節

1） 動脈粥樣硬化及血管再狹窄分子病理機制；
2） 糖尿病血管病變的分子機制；
3） 機械-生物信號傳導機制。
