什麼是絲光棉
按照兩道絲光工藝劃分，絲光棉既可指經過紗線絲光工藝處理過的棉紗線，也可指經過面料絲光處理過的棉面料。
絲光棉的分類
紗線絲光：指棉紗線在有張力的情況下，經過濃燒鹼的處理，使其既具有棉原有的特性，又具有絲一般光澤的一類特殊的棉紗線。
面料絲光：指棉面料在有張力的情況下，經過濃燒鹼的處理，使面料光澤度更佳、更挺括、保型性更好。
絲光棉製作工藝
俗稱雙絲光的面料完整的工藝流程為：棉花紡紗→精梳→紗線燒毛→紗線絲光→紗線絞染→固色、柔軟、倒絞後形成絲光棉紗線→色紗針織形成面料→面料染色（如果前期紗線未染色）→面料絲光→面料預縮、定型→形成雙絲光棉面料，裁布即可製衣。
而一般純棉面料的主要工藝往往是：棉花紡紗→織布→染色後即可製衣。
絲光棉的原料
絲光棉選用的棉花原料較為高檔，60S/2到120S/3的常規品種絲光棉一般選用新疆長絨棉、美國PIMA棉、埃及長絨棉作為原料，其中最好是埃及長絨棉。絲光棉由於選用高檔的棉花原料以及高檔染料等輔料，又經過一系列嚴格的加工程式，其產品可謂棉中極品，既保留了純棉柔軟舒適、吸濕透氣的天然優點，還具有很多獨特優勢：
絲光棉的優勢
絲光棉紗線優勢：1、紗線強力增大，不易斷裂；2、光澤度增加，有絲一般亮度；3、染色性能提高，色澤鮮亮，不易掉色；4、紗線斷裂深度隨張力的增大而減少，即不易拉長而變型。
絲光棉面料優勢：1、面料色澤明亮，久洗不變色；2、面料具有絲綢面料一般的光澤；3、面料尺寸比較穩定，垂懸感較好；4、面料挺括、抗皺性能好、不易起球起皺。
絲光棉的主要用途
絲光棉產品成本較高，終端消費品一般是高檔POLO衫、T恤、襯衫和商務襪。
品質最好的絲光棉產品是：用高支數長絨棉製成的的精梳燒毛雙絲光絲光棉，消費者應注意辨別只做面料絲光或用低支數棉花製成的絲光棉產品。
