Nancy Willard (born June 26, 1936, in Ann Arbor, Michigan) is achildren's author and poet. In 1982, she received the Newbery Medalfor A Visit to William Blake's Inn. She lives inPoughkeepsie, New York and lectures at Vassar College.[1]. She waseducated at the University of Michigan, where she won a HopwoodAward and received a B.A. and a Ph.D, and at Stanford University,where she received her M.A.[2].^Alice Provensen began illustratingbooks with her husband Martin in the mid 1940's.
