《大學英語:泛讀2(學生用書)(第3版)》本次修訂是按照2004年教育部頒布的《大學英語課程教學要求（試行）》並結合當前我國大學英語的實際情況而進行的。因此，我們的修訂的方向是：在提高閱讀能力的同時，要注重培養學生綜合套用英語的能力。 每篇課文後有兩種練習，一是閱讀練習，二是詞語套用練習。詞語套用練習的形式力求多樣、新穎，例如多義詞用法小結、小詞的活用及搭配、同形異義詞辨析、以及詞的派生等，既能幫助歸納已學知識，又能鍛鍊學生的應變和適應能力。 為了提高學習興趣，每十五課後增加一個自測練習，備有供休閒閱讀的篇章，學生可自己檢查閱讀能力的提高。
