Located in the southwest of the main city and in the southeast of Hexi Newtown, bordering Yingtian Avenue to the north, the Beltway to the south, Lushan Road to the west and the Southern River to the east, Nanjing Newtown Science & Technology Park covers a total area of 10 kmwith 4 kmin its core zone which is the largest hi-tech industry park within the inner city. In 2003, the Park was approved to build by Nanjing municipal government, focussing on emerging industries such as electronic information, creative industry, new energy and materials, biomedicine and environmental protection. The Park has been awarded among the first group the Title of "Provincial-level Modern Service Cluster Zone", "Provincial-level Software and Information Service Industry Park" and "Provincial-level Science and Technology Industry Park".
Newtown Science & Technology Park, adhering to the scientific development approach and taking the advantage of the complete public utilities and superior location in Hexi Newtown, has attracted over 500 renowned corporations and hi-tech R&D enterprises from home and abroad and a total investments of over RMB 32 billion, with more than 800,000mof floor area completed and another 2,500,000munder construction. The year of 2011 witnessed the total of the Park’s technical industrial and trade income of more than RMB 17 billion and the rapid tax revenue growth for the fourth consecutive year. In the same year the Park was approved by the State Administration of Industry and Commerce as member of the first group of "National Advertising Industry Park".
The Park follows closely the innovation-driven development strategy of Nanjing Municipal Committee to focus on the "Four First" and thoroughly implements the key measures of "Talent Leadership, Technological Entrepreneurship, System Piloting and Park Pioneering" to develop the innovative entrepreneurship hub of Yangtze River delta through the establishment of the best investment and best innovative and entrepreneurial park of Nanjing.

The Park is the largest hi-tech industry park and the first one to have rail transit access in Nanjing main city.
The Park is merely 7 km from Xinjiekou in Nanjing main city, 1 km from CBD of Hexi New Town, 30 km from Lukou International Airport and 15 km from Nanjing South Railway Station. Both Metro Line 1 and Line 2 pass through the Park at Zhongsheng Station and Yurun Street Station.
