創作背景
生如夏花 自從告別《白樺林》之後，朴樹就在沉寂中苦求生命和音樂的意蘊，經過四年的探求，專輯中的詞曲全是有朴樹一手打造。專輯中歌曲追求那種近乎縹緲和絕望的唯美同名主打《生如夏花》是《衝出你的視窗》的另一種版本。專輯裡的《傻子才悲傷》、《我愛你，再見》、《傲慢的上校》是浪漫而憂傷的朴式代表歌曲。
2003年11月8日，新專輯《生如夏花》在朴樹的生日於全國各正版音像店開始同步預售。華納唱片·麥田音樂和美卡音像對《生如夏花》這張年度巨片寄予厚望。2003年11月28日，朴樹的新專輯《生如夏花》在全國正式盛開。

歌曲鑑賞
朴樹用一種近乎苦行僧的迷狂，用這部傳記試圖漸抵印度大師泰戈爾“使之生如夏花之絢爛，死若秋葉之靜美”的純然之境。歌曲《傲慢的上校》浪漫而憂傷。英文部分帶有Rap的風格。中文部分是典型的朴式歌曲風格。 歌曲在後期處理當中加入了很多電子音效，甚至還配上了一段說唱，使得這首歌曲和當時很多的流行歌有了質的區別，而更不用說這首歌有如箴言一般的歌詞，就像刀子一般扎入人們心中，銘心刻骨。
