The Chemical brothers的成員為Tom Rowlands和Ed Simons,他們兩位是在倫敦修歷史而認識的. 剛開始是以重新混音(Remix)一些知名樂團的曲子而出名的,像Primal Scream,Mainc Street Preachers... 等等,就連The Prodigy的Voodoo People也被他們重新改造過.他們原名Dust Brothers,但因和美國一個Hip-Hop團體同名,便以自己的一首曲子Chemical Beats為名而改為The Chemical Brothers.
日子久了,光是Remix別人的作品也變得不好玩啦~因此The Chemical Brothers開始嘗試創作了. 集Techno,Hip-Hop,House及搖滾於一身,The Chemical Brothers也是帶動Big-Beat和Brit-Hop的樂團之一,更可說是Big-Beat的始祖.95年首張專輯Exit Planet Dust即充滿了濃厚的搖滾樂風,巧妙的運用了切分拍子,重擊大鼓,電吉他刷弦,再配合少許的TB-303,讓你聽了,會覺得是搖滾樂而不是電子樂!
The Chemical Brothers的音樂可說是越來越具有爆發力,接連的第二張專輯Dig Your Own Hole,首 支單曲Block Rockin' Beats為其成績最好的一首!密集,厚沉的的鼓聲,加重的Bass,加上電子噪音牆, 讓人聽了渾身是勁~再來的Elektrobank以Big-Beat節拍加上"工業噪音"(一些合成,很吵的聲響),更是別具風味.如果你喜歡搖滾樂,又想試著接觸電子樂,不如試試The Chemical Brothers的電子搖滾樂吧.
