showing off09
According to the passage, we know the mother who had four children were very self-restraint. But when we thought it deeply, we could know that action were a much smarter showing off. From doing this, she would get more admiration from others. The mother would not have a tendency to shrink up whenever attention was focused on her. Oppositely, she would be more proud in what she had achieved. In line 47, I found a word “entitle”. One meaning is the same as “authorize”. It gives the equal to somebody. For example, officers are entitled to travel first class. The other meaning is the same as “call” or “named”, for example, a novel entitled ‘Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’. And the sentence “Another group of showoffs―much more sympathetic types―are showoffs who are basically insecure”. The middle phrases are to express the subject. But the word “are” behind the second dash confusing me.
