Chrno CrusadeIt was originally published by Kadokawa Shoten in Monthly Dragon Magazine. A 24-episode anime television series based on the manga ran from 2003 to 2004 on Fuji TV. The animation work was done by GONZO Digimation. The series was released in North America by ADV Manga and ADV Films, titled Chrono Crusade.

Main Characters
Rosette Christopher: The protagonist of Chrono Crusade, she is an élite exorcist of the Order of Magdalene, and goes out on missions to destroy troublemaking demons. She works with a demon named Chrono, with whom she made a contract when she was young, and wears a clock around her neck that contains her lifeforce. When she opens it, Chrno is able to increase his demonic power; However, this shortens Rosette's lifespan. Because of the contract, Rosette knows that her life will be a short one, and therefore tries to accomplish as much as she can in the time that she has. She herself believes that she will not live to see thirty. Her primary motivation is to save her brother Joshua, who has been captured by Aion.
Chrono (Chrno): Rosette's partner, a demon. He made a Contract with Rosette, and is now her best friend, and something more, and cares very much for her. He sometimes has to help her escape difficult situtations due to her incessant recklessness. He usually lends a hand when she needs it, and gives her information on the demons she fighting. Other demons known him as Sinner Chrno. He used to be on the same side as Aion. He has also lost his horns, which were the source of his power; he now has to rely on Rosette's soul. Even though he's a demon, he's a very kind and friendly individual.
Joshua Christopher: The Apostle of Hope and Rosette's little brother. He and Rosette used to live together in an orphanage and he was often sick. However, he found that he had strange powers and was able to heal other people's wounds and illnesses, but not his own. Using his power also greatly weakened him. Understandably somewhat bitter about this and wishing to become strong enough to not need to rely on his sister, he was easy prey for Aion's blandishments. Aion gave him Chrno's horns, which had the unfortunate side-effect of amplifying the sound of the thoughts around Joshua, driving him to the brink of insanity. In order to silence the "noise" he perceived around him, he unwittingly used the horns to send everyone and everything in a large radius into a form of temporal stasis. He regained his senses long enough to warn Rosette and Chrono to get away before they too were frozen. All his PENT-up feelings of helplessness and resentment turned him into a Demon. The horns have driven Joshua insane and he is now under Aion's control.
Azmaria Hendric: The Apostle of Benevolence. Azmaria, like Joshua, has found herself with strange powers to heal other people's illnesses and wounds, by singing. She is frequently hunted by those who want her powers, especially Aion. She loses her powers after saving Rosette and Chrno from falling to their deaths. Although she thinks that her powers will return, she is unsure of how long it will take. She looks up to Rosette and joins the order of Magdalene to help fight. Because of her strange powers, she has accidentally hurt many of the people around her.
Aion: A Sinner and a demon. Aion is trying to collect all of the Apostles so he can tap into the Astral Line, thus fulfilling his dream to destroy Pandaemonium and enacting the rebirth of the world. Aion actually has noble intentions, but it is his means of accomplishing his dream that make him a villain. Chrno used to be on his side, and he still has many other followers. He is the one the Order of Magdalene devote most of their energy toward defeating.
Satella Harvenheit: A jewel summoner and hired assassin who kills demons. She hates all demons because, except for her older sister, she lost everyone in her family to demons when she was young. She came to America from Germany to search for her remaining family. Rosette and Satella don't exactly take a liking to each other when they first meet, especially since Rosette works with Chrno. As a jewel summoner, Satella has the ability to use magical jewels to summon various spiritual entities. Satella likes Azmaria more as Azmaria looks like her sister. Satella is also trying to track down the hornless demon that killed her family and has vowed to destroy it.
