劉乃銀主編的《英語泛讀教程》是普通高等教育“十一五”國家級規劃教材，供高等學校英語專業一、二年級學生使用，也適用於同等程度的英語自學者。全套教材共4冊。本書為第三冊，共15個單元。每單元一般分為四部分：第一部分為閱讀課文及練習，練習包括判斷課文中心思想、閱讀理解、課堂討論題和辭彙練習；第二部分為閱讀技巧，重點介紹各種閱讀技巧，並配有相應的練習；第三部分為快速閱讀練習，提供3篇短文，要求在規定的時間內完成；第四部分為課外閱讀，提供和課文長度相當的語言材料，配有閱讀理解題和思考題。
《英語泛讀教程》第三版替換了第二版的部分內容，並根據難易程度調整了單元順序，使閱讀文章題材更加廣泛、更具有時代感。
