主要從事固體發光材料相關理論研究。先後主持和協作開展國家自然科學基金項目6項、教育部重點項目1項及多項重慶市科研項目;先後在物理學、化學及材料科學領域國際期刊發表SCI錄論文90餘篇, 被SCI論文引用累計800次;2005年獲重慶市自然科學二等獎(第四完成人),2007年獲重慶市自然科學一等獎(第一完成人)。
