內容提要
本書主要內容包括土壤學、林木種子、林木育苗與樹木學、森林生態學、遺傳育種、森林經理、森林培育和3S技術等方面，分別選定若干主題。每課主要由課文，相應參考譯文，閱讀材料組成。為了加深學生對課文的理解，每課都配有相應的閱讀理解資料，而閱讀材料是與課文相關的文章，是課文的拓展部分，以加深學生對一些專業理論、觀點的全面理解。本書旨在幫助讀者提高林學專業英語文獻的閱讀理解能力，同時加強專業英語的翻譯、寫作、交流能力。另一方面，通過對本教材的學習和閱讀，也可以鞏固和拓展讀者的專業知識。
