這是一部相比於大螢幕更適合通過DVD或者錄像帶的電影，影片代入感很強。就故事本身來說並沒有太多新意：一個在逃的連環殺人犯通過拍“恐怖錄象”的方式把他殘害被害人的過程紀錄下來。但是本電影卻以它循序漸進的敘事方式一部部地把觀眾帶入到The Last Horror Movie的世界中，使人強烈感到自己仿佛會是下一個看了錄像帶而被害的人一般。影片中也有許多揭示生命本質的思考，例如Max在車上所說的那段非洲兒童與電視的調侃般的話就值得讓人反省每個人對待他人生命的態度。《The Last Horror Movie》也毫不留情地批判了現今恐怖片觀眾們的心理，一句“如果你認為那不是真的那你為什麼要看呢，如果你認為那是真的那你為什麼還能看到影片的最後一秒？”尖銳地質問了大眾，發人深省。最後MAX對著鏡頭的獨白也是影片的出彩之處，如果是通過錄像帶觀看本片的觀眾可能真的會被驚嚇到。總體而言《The Last Horror Movie》是一部創意與思想皆佳的作品。
