介紹
大連市甘井子區特殊教育中心校舍落成於2003年11月28日，座落於甘井子區周水子廣場10號。學校占地面積11，000平方米，建築面積5，800平方米，直屬於甘井子區教育局，是一所以招收智障學生為主的九年制特殊教育學校。學校現有學生173名，專任教師43名。
活動建校八年來，學校以管理科學民主，教師勤奮奉獻，教學求實創新，德育自成體系，設施一流實用，環境優美獨特為辦學目標，始終堅持“一切為了孩子終身發展負責”的辦學理念。堅持以科研為先導、育人為目標、教學為中心、康復為基礎。以生存教育為主線，深入研究每個學生的發展需要與可能，制定個別化教育計畫，努力創造適合智障兒童發展的教育。在課程設定上針對智障學生的實際進行大膽改革和實踐，開設了一般性課程、功能性課程和職業教育課程，實行單元主題教學、跨年級分能力教學、同級分科教學和個別輔導的教學模式，使學生日有所進、日後有為並能應付將來就業及獨立生活的需要。
特教中心以花園式校園環境為平台，以生活化人文環境為核心，與現代化的教育教學設施相得益彰，精心打造“學校精緻、管理精細、教師精心、學生精神”的“四精”品牌，為智障學生提供全方位的教育服務，努力創辦全國一流的特教學校。
介紹

比賽
2017年5月18日，由孫德慶老師帶隊，韓佳萱，楊榮秋，孫慧如及陳紹佳四名學生組成的甘區特教中心代表隊在全國特奧地滾球錦標賽中順利收官，榮耀歸來。
案例
2017年4月21日，甘井子區特教中心的孩子們與大連市弘文中學的老師和志願者們共同學習了動感的小球操，在活力十足的音樂中進行了又一次的中學生義工服務站活動。
輕鬆的熱身運動後，弘文中學健美操隊的同學帶著孩子們和著音樂的節拍進行小球操的學習。同手同腳、分不清左右、動作跟不上節奏……掌握一項新的技能對我們的孩子來說並不是件容易的事。弘文中學的哥哥姐姐們卻沒有絲毫的怠慢和不耐煩，一對一耐心輔導——節奏跟不上就放慢腳步，一遍不會就教兩遍……孩子們在哥哥姐姐的鼓勵下認真練習了一遍又一遍，在短暫的時光中體驗了美，享受了快樂。
甘區特教義工服務站成立以來，我校與服務站緊密配合，精心設計內容豐富、形式多樣的活動，切實促進我校學生與正常學生群體的理解與交流。未來我們還將堅持此項活動，不斷推動融合教育的深入發展。
教材
2016年10月21日，大連市甘井子區特殊教育中心的王國霞、王閃閃和侯蘇芳三位老師於大連市沙河口區啟智學校向來自市內各特教學校的老師們就感統、認知及語言三類教材的解讀進行培訓。
本次由我校教師參與編寫的教材是大連市首次正式編寫發行的特殊教育地方課程叢書的重要組成部分，甘區特教中心的老師們耗時兩年，經過認真細緻的前期準備工作，最終順利優質地完成了三門學科的教材編寫工作。教材一經使用倍受好評，得到了來自社會各界的普遍讚譽，為提升大連市特殊教育工作做出了貢獻。
本次培訓我校的三位老師對教材做出了深入淺出的解讀，有利於幫助各校特教老師在日常的教學中更好地使用教材，提高教學質量，從而促進學生各項能力的發展。
