女演員克勞黛·考爾白是法籍美國人。她生於法國巴黎，原名麗莉·克勞黛·喬喬恩，很小時就隨父母來到了美國。克勞黛在高中時開始出演校園戲劇，幾年後開始在百老匯舞台劇中飾演一些小角色。因喜愛表演，她決定以此為畢生追求。1927年，她在紐約派拉蒙電影工作室拍攝了自己的第一部無聲電影。隨著有聲電影逐步取代默片，克勞黛在同年拍攝了“愛上邁克”。瓜子臉、生動的大眼睛和高雅迷人的舉止使得克勞黛能夠在不同的角色中大展拳腳。她的百變風格又使她能夠在眾多一流影片中出演主要角色，克勞黛成了當時的票房明星。
