傑恩·巴尼簡介
傑恩·巴尼(Jay B. Barney)是美國管理學會院士,美國俄亥俄州立大學管理與人力資源系首席教授,在耶魯大學獲得博士學位,曾任教於加州大學洛杉礬分校和德克薩斯大學的A&M分校。他是國際戰略管理權威專家之一,是企業資源本位觀理論的主要奠基人。十幾年來,其文章的引用率一直處於非常高的水平,其研究成果被國內外所有主流教材採用,在全球戰略研究領域具有廣泛而深刻的影響。多年來,傑恩教授已在頂級學術雜誌上發表了40多篇論文;他還是《管理雜誌》、《組織科學》、《AMR》、《SMJ》、《人力資源管理》雜誌和《組織科學》雜誌的編輯委員會成員。傑恩教授曾為惠普、得州儀器等全球20多個著名公司提供過諮詢指導。
傑恩·巴尼的企業資源觀
多數學者公認Jay Barney是現代企業資源觀(RBV)之父。 他的理論(1991)認為,在公司之間可能存在著一種異質或差異,正是這些差異使得一部分公司保持著競爭優勢。 因此,RBV理論強調戰略選擇,認為公司管理的戰略任務就是找出、發展和配置這一部分與眾不同的關鍵資源,以謀求最大化的經營回報。
Barney 在1991年發表的《企業資源與可持續競爭優勢》 (Firm Resources and Sustained Competitive Advantage)一文中明確指出,超常的租值在一定程度上是可以通過“VRIN”資源來獲得。這裡,VRIN的含義是:
Valuable,即有價值的資源,它是公司構想和執行企業戰略、提高效率和效能的基礎。
Rare,即稀缺的資源,資源即便再有價值,一旦為大部分公司所擁有,它也不能帶來競爭優勢或者可持續的競爭優勢。
Imperfectly Imitable,即無法仿製的資源,一般需同時具備以下三點特徵: 歷史條件獨特、起因模糊,以及具有社會負責性。
Non-Substitutable,即難以替代的資源,不能夠存在一種即可複製又不稀缺的替代品。
