Unite 4 (9-17)
I read paragraph 9 with a question---can we forgive students for cheating? Although writer shows lots of methods practiced /by/school, students make article which is written by others their own thesis (theses)or homework. Cheating seems as a strange power that cannot get a handle on it.
According to the appearance above, a new question is offered by writer to doubt the educational environment and living environment of the little cheater/-s/.
In paragraph 11, I find a(an) interesting words(word)----“bother”. To all appearance, bother means to annoy or worry about someone. And usually it is adopted as a verb, but actually, it has many meanings. For instance, “I cannot be bothered” means I am not going to do something because I do not want to make the effort. “I am sorry to be such a bother” means I feel sorry because I am a big problem. When we match bother and about, it means worry about something. Then writer quotes a personnel opinion from a mother, she analysis(analyses) cheating is a part of human nature in our life, and there is no direct connection between studying in school and cheating. Everybody cheated (cheats)when he or her(she) is young, or until he or her(she) becoming (becomes)an adult.
I get inspiration from the short dialogue, cheating takes root in the privacy of kid `s thoughts, because cheating behavior that their parents or teachers do takes their fancy in daily life. moreover, in comparison with teacher, cheating happens in family affection (affect)more for kids until them(they) begin to put their watching into practice /?/.
In paragraph 12, I try to analysis(analyse) the word----“outspoken”. It means frank, forthright, straightforward. It also expresses /expressed/ like a fix phrase-----“spoken out”. In /the/ first sentence, I think “outspoken opponents of cheating” means a number of people who against cheating. And the world (words)in the next sentence----“honor code” is not really a set of rules to distinguish honor from cheating. I begin to scratch my head when I read this sentence: “you are on the threshold of being an adult.” So I wind myself up and look up the dictionary and it means 'at the beginning of '. To put all into a nutshell, Mrs. James R suggests that cheating cannot be forgive unless cheater is a youngster, because this bunch always being mislead easily.
They do not have too much awareness to distinguish right /things/ from wrong. oddly enough, the survey which I had do reports a unbelievable statistics that almost all college students had a though of cheating in(the) exam. That indicates strongly that cheating spreading like wildfire.
In paragraph 13 and 14, writer shows a(an) effective way to avoid cheating taking place in exam, that is----open-book. On (the)one hand, it trains students review what they had learned; on the other hand, to get rid of the cheating behavior. So that is the meaning of dual-purpose told by writer. As the old says: “experience teaches it.” A dean who experiences a lot explains that students will not likely to hand on two pieces of similar answer paper(papers), unless there exist a couple of twins.
For a better learning environment, a new committed consists of teacher makes a discussion between each member. By now, I face a compound word----“campus-wide”, I guess it means open-book will not out of scope, but only hold inside the college.
The suggestion said by vice president sounds absolutely right, but the reality I experience causes me to doubt the purpose of exam. I have been studying in school for almost 13 years, and I have taste countless exam (exams)till now. I feel living under stress o be full of mark(marks) at first. But unfortunately I turn to care about the pass level. Because after every exam, teacher thinks highly to the students who pass, and encourages them by scholarship, neglects to understanding if they succeed in taking exam through a bright way, or cheating in brief. At that rate, I really do not know whether this farce will develop to /into/ a certain area in future.
The last two paragraphs appear /不妥吧/ what we need to do to /刪/ avoid students getting used to cheating. I agree with them. We should training /時態與使用的單詞不妥/students from their childhood. When I am young, the most scared news is I got a mark of 99, only a bit of gap to full marks. That means my parents will reprimand to my mistake. According to what the psychologists worried in the sentence, I begin to scratch my head----“is there any connections(connection) between two-income families, high-pressure jobs and cheating students?
