MLS Experience
2005: Returned to MLS after a stint in Germany with Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Had one of the best seasons of his career in his first campaign with the Green and Gold, with 12 goals and 10 assists in 22 regular season games. Continued his torrid pace with three goals in four MLS Cup Playoffs games, including both of the club's markers in a 2-0 win at Colorado that gave them the Western Conference championship.
2004: Registered six goals and 10 assists in 23 games for the San Jose Earthquakes.
2003: Named the Earthquakes' Most Valuable Player after completing a stellar season. Crowned MLS Player of the Month for April. Recorded the first hat trick in team history on 9/20 @ KC. Named MLS Player of the Month for September. Scored two goals and named MLS Cup MVP on 11/23 vs. CHI.
2002: Scored seven goals and registered three assists in 20 games. Started every game for the U.S. in the FIFA World Cup, scoring two goals and leading the U.S. to the quarterfinals for the first time in history.
2001: Proved to be one of the brightest stars in MLS in his rookie season. Finished as the second leading scorer on the Quakes with seven goals and 10 assists. Named MVP of MLS All-Star game after tremendous, record-breaking four-goal performance. Scored five goals in six playoff matches, including one in the MLS Cup Final.

2006: A fixture in Manager Bruce Arena's starting eleven who earned his 75th career cap in the USA's 5-0 defeat of Norway at The Home Depot Center on January 29.
2005: Led the stars and stripes to an appearance inFIFA World Cup Germany 2006, making 15 appearances in qualifiers and scoring six goals and adding six assists.
2004: Played in 14 games, all starts and scored five goals and added five assists.
2003: Led the United States in scoring, netting seven goals and registering five assists ... Played in 15 games, starting 13 ... Named U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year.
2002: Started every match for the U.S. in the FIFA 2002 World Cup in Korea/Japan. Scored two goals for U.S. team that advanced to the quarterfinals, the best finish for a U.S. team in over 50 years ... Only player to appear in all 20 matches in 2002.
2001: Called in for training camp for the majority of the USA's World Cup qualifying matches ... Made qualifying debut on 9/1 against Honduras at RFK Stadium in 3-2 loss, starting the match.
2000: Became just the sixth player since 1985 to score a goal in his first appearance with the full U.S. Men's National Team when he tallied in the USA's 2-0 win over Mexico in Los Angeles on Oct. 25 ...Also set up a goal in his first full international match and was named "Man of the Match."
1999: Was called in for the U.S. Men's National Team game vs. Argentina on June 13, 1999, but did not make an appearance in the game.
