作者簡介
劉世偉，男，1953年生，湖南省常德市人。現為湖南網路工程職業學院外語系主任，長期從事英語和遠程教育的教學和研究，曾編著過多種英語教材和學術專著，在國內外發表教研論文二十餘篇，所撰論文曾獲2002年中國創新教育成果一等獎。
內容簡介
《新世紀英語教程(1高職高專)》內容以共核英語為主，共有8個單元，每個單元有80～100個辭彙，15～25個短語，每單元有課文理解、語法重點和練習、實踐與提高三部分。

本教材共分四冊，語言材料大部分選自原文材料，具有較強的思想性、科學性、知識性、趣味性、和實用性。第一、二冊的內容以共核英語（Common Core English）為主，第三、四冊適當增加科普和人文內容的比例。學生學完第三冊後可以達到《高職高專教育英語課程教學基本要求》所規定的B級要求，學完第四冊後可以達到《高職高專教育英語課程教學基本要求》所規定的A級要求。
